Mr. Ken Luis Tobe Takes Oath as Philippine Honorary Consul in Sapporo City
Tokyo, 15 May 2018 – Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V administered the oath taking of Mr. Ken Luis Tobe as Consul ad honorem of the Republic of the Philippines in Sapporo City, Japan. The oath taking ceremony was held at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and witnessed by the following Embassy officials: Mr. Eduardo M.R. Meñez, Deputy Chief of Mission; Mr. Robespierre L. Bolivar, Minister & Consul-General; and Ms. Leah Victoria C. Rodriguez, First Secretary & Consul.
Mr. Ken Luis Tobe succeeded his father who has served as Consul, ad honorem, for 25 years until his retirement on 03 July 2017. The Consulate of the Philippines in Sapporo City, with consular jurisdiction over Hokkaido Prefecture, opened in 1992 and has since been represented by honorary consular officers.
Mr. Tobe, who speaks Nihongo, English and Spanish, has an MBA at INSEAD and fine arts degree at Parsons School Design in Paris. He has previously worked for the Italian luxury brand Gucci Group as corporate image director, for media company Condé-Nast Ltd. as chief designer and eventually as associate art director, and for international publishing company Filipacchi Presse SA as associate art director. Mr. Tobe is currently the President of Nippon Food Manufacturer based in Sapporo City.
