Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Discusses Plans To Export Philippine-Assembled Cars During Call on Ambassador Laurel
Officials from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation called on Ambassador Jose C. Laurel V on 04 December 2020. Representative Executive Officer, Co-Chief Operating Officer Yoichiro Yatabe, General Manager for the Philippines Business Department ASEAN B Division Takehisa Usami, and Division General Manager for the ASEAN B Division and Assistant Executive Officer for ASEAN Minoru Kinoshita met with Ambassador Laurel to express their appreciation for the Philippines’ support of its projects in the country.
Established in 20 February 1963 as Chrysler Philippines Corporation, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is the longest staying automotive company in the Philippines which brings in state of the art technology in automotive manufacturing.
One of the highlights of the call was Mitsubishi’s plan to export a Philippine-made Mitsubishi product in two years. The locally-assembled Mitsubishi L300 will soon be exported to the neighboring ASEAN countries, which will make the company the first automotive brand existing locally to export vehicles.
Mitsubishi, particularly the Mitsubishi Mirage, also participates in the Philippines’ Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program, which calls for fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to jumpstart the revitalization of the country’s automotive industry, improve its competitiveness, and elevate the Philippines into an auto manufacturing hub in the region.
