Filipino Professor Honored at the Hitachi Scholarship Graduation Ceremony
17 March 2017 – Filipino Professor Dr. Jonathan Villaroza Caalim was honored by the Hitachi Global Foundation for successfully graduating with a Doctoral Degree in Mathematics at the University of Tsukuba Graduate School of Pure and Applied Sciences. His three year program in Japan was made possible by the assistance of the Hitachi Global Foundation which offers scholarships to university professors in Southeast Asia to obtain doctoral degrees in the field of science and technology at Japanese universities and research institutions.
Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Eduardo Martin R. Meñez, the guest-of-honor of the Graduation Ceremony, in his remarks, congratulated the five graduates from the different ASEAN countries and expressed hope that they would be instrumental to the further development of their countries in the future by providing inspiration to the next generation of scholars, integrating the knowledge they learned in Japan into their own domestic needs and innovating their output to make important contributions to society at large.
