Embassy Conducts Consular Outreach Mission and OAV Registration in Hokkaido and Gunma Prefectures
20 September 2014, The Philippine Embassy sent a combined Consular and Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) Team to Sapporo on Saturday, 20 September 2014 (photo above) to provide services to the Filipino community in the Hokkaido Prefecture. With the support and assistance of the Samahang Pilipino ng Hokkaido (SPH) headed by Ms. Esmie Takahashi, the Consular and OAV Team processed 139 passport applications including the passport of one of two newly born Filipinos, rendered 40 notarial and other consular services, gave advice on Philippine laws and registered 80 Filipino voters for the 2016 national elections (photos below, left to right).
Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Gilberto Asuque and Vice Consul Andrea Leycano led the Consular and OAV Team. They expressed thanks and appreciation to Mr. Kenichi Tobe, Philippine Honorary Consul in Sapporo, Ms. Takahashi and the members of the SPH for giving their time and effort on a weekend to ensure the efficient completion of the consular and OAV outreach mission to Hokkaido.
The Philippine Embassy also conducted a Consular Outreach Mission and OAV registration in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture on 23 August 2014 (photos below) to assist the Filipinos in their passport, authentication of documents, voters registration and other consular requirements. The Consular Team processed 126 passport applications and provided 13 other consular services and about 25 legal consultations. The Team was headed by DCM Asuque and Vice Consul Leycano, who is also the designated COMELEC Administering Officer.
The OAV Team (photos below) registered 83 OFW voters for the May 2016 National Elections.
The Filipino Friendship Group (FFG) of Honjo, headed by Mr. Rudy de la Vega, gave support and community coordination for the Consular and OAV Team. CDA Asuque later thanked the FFG (photo above, right) for their valuable assistance in the efficient and orderly conduct of the consular and OAV services for the Filipinos in Gunma Prefecture.
