ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR THE E-VISA:
The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, Japan informs the public of the implementation of the Philippine e-Visa system starting 23 June 2025 for non-official temporary travel to the Philippines.
The transition to the Philippine e-Visa system is being implemented in selected Philippine Foreign Service Posts. In Japan, the system is applicable only to the Embassy in Tokyo.
Note:

- The Philippine e-Visa system can be accessed remotely using personal computers, laptops, or mobile devices.
- The e-Visa system will accommodate 9(a) visa applications of foreign nationals residing in Japan for temporary visits to the Philippines for tourism or business purposes only, under the following categories:
- Single-entry 9(a) e-Visas;
- Multiple-entry 9(a) e-Visas valid for six (6) months; or
- Multiple-entry 9(a) e-Visas valid for one (1) year.
Japanese nationals residing in Japan whose temporary visit to the Philippines for tourism or business purposes will go beyond the allowed 30 days visa-free entry may also apply for the 9(a) visa using the e-Visa system.
- Applicants whose temporary travel requires conversion to other types of Philippine visas, extension of stay while in the Philippines, as well as all the other types of Philippine visas, are still required to apply for a regular visa sticker at the Philippine Embassy.
Procedures:
- Create an Account: Access the official Philippine e-Visa website: evisa.gov.ph and register/create an account to get started on your electronic visa application.
- Complete the Information and Documents Requested: Fill out the required information on the website and upload your documents.

- Payment e-Visa Fees: Proceed to the Philippine Embassy and pay onsite the appropriate e-Visa fees within 14 days from the submission of the application. The e-Visa process shall not begin until payment is made. There are no other available payment options at this time.
The e-Visa fees are non-refundable. - Processing of the e-Visa Application: E-Visa application process begins. Processing time is 7-12 working days for Single-Entry or 15-21 working days for Multiple-Entry applications.Personal appearance for submission of original documents and interview is no longer mandatory for e-Visa applications.
However, the Philippine Embassy reserves the right to require submission of original documents or request an interview with the applicant when deemed necessary. In this case, the e-Visa applicant shall be informed through the e-Visa system within the visa processing period.
In case of lack of documents, e-Visa applicants will be informed through the e-Visa system to upload/reupload/submit the required additional documents within seven (7) working days. Otherwise, the application is automatically deleted from the system with the payment forfeited.There is no need to follow-up on the status of the e-Visa application. The applicant will receive emails from the e-Visa system regarding their application.
- Results of the e-Visa Application: e-Visa applicants will receive a system email when the e-Visa application is approved or denied. The approved e-Visa is downloadable through applicant’s e-Visa account and can be presented in either digital or printed form.
The e-Visa will no longer be affixed to passports and are not convertible to other types of Philippine visas, nor will it be eligible for an extension of stay.
The Embassy reserves the right to refuse or deny e-Visa applications that violate visa regulations such as misinformation, use of fraudulent documents, submission of incomplete documents, etc. The e-Visa fee for denied applications are non-refundable. Reasons for the denial of visa applications are also strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to applicants.
