CONTINUE A TRADITION. SHARE IN THE CELEBRATION.
The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ) are proud to host the Spring 2017 Recognition Ceremonies for Filipino Graduates in Japan popularly known as PAGHAYO SA TAGSIBOL 2017. The ceremony will be held on Monday, 20 March 2017, 4 p.m. at Siazon Hall of the Philippine Embassy in Roppongi, Minato, Tokyo.
More than a thousand Filipinos are currently in Japan to study and take higher studies. Many are scholars of the Philippine Government, the Japanese Government or private foundations and they graduate every March and September after the completion of their academic requirements.
With Filipinos comprising the third largest group of foreign nationals residing in Japan, a growing population of young Filipino-Japanese born and brought up in Japan are also graduating from Japanese academic institutions.
The PAGHAYO recognition rite honors the achievements of Filipinos graduating from academic institutions in Japan.
A Certificate of Recognition and a medal engraved with the words “Paghayo: Kaalaman Para sa Bayan” will be awarded to the new graduates. During the recognition ceremony, the graduates will transfer their obi-sablays from their right to left shoulders to symbolize the attainment of their academic degrees.
Filipino students graduating in Spring 2017 may register with AFSJ.
