Philippine Ambassador to Japan Inducts Incoming PAG Officers For 2017-2018
Philippine Ambassador to Tokyo, His Excellency Jose C. Laurel V, administered the oaths of office of the newly elected officers of the Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) for the 2017-2018 on 1 September 2017 at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo.
Established 20 years ago, PAG is an umbrella association of registered Filipino community organizations in the Kanto region dedicated to extending financial assistance to Filipinos in distress, particularly to provide medical assistance and funds for their repatriation, through the Philippine Assistance Fund.
Inducted into office were Ms. Eleanor Fukuda of ODAN-J (Organization for the Development and Advancement of Negros in Japan) as Chairman; Dr. George Cabrera of CASTLE (Christian Association Serving Traditional Laymen’s Evangelization) as Vice-Chairman; Ms. Joyce Ogawa of Sinag Japan as Treasurer; Mr. Robert Alcamfor of TIMD (Tong-Il Modo Phil-Japan), Ms. Evangeline Yamamoto of UFGY (Unified Filipino Group of Yokohama) and Ms. Olive Akatsu of HAKMI (Hawak Kamay sa Mahal na Ina) as Executive Committee Members; Ms. Ningning Tomiyama of TIFC (Takayasu International Fan Club), Ms. Corazon Kasuga of FICAP (Filipina Circle for Advancement and Progress) and Mr. Alden Estolas of AAIJ (Abraenian Association in Japan) as officials of PAG’s Membership Committee.
During the induction ceremony, Ambassador Laurel spoke of the value of unity among Filipino community organizations. Outgoing officers of PAG (2016-2017) were recognized by Amb. Laurel for their distinguished service to the Filipino community. He also witnessed the acceptance of the Philippine Federation of Panay Islands in Japan (PFPIJ) as the newest member of PAG. -End-
