Philippine Embassy, Philippine Assistance Group Discuss 2026 Activities for Filipino Community and 70th Anniversary of PH-JP Friendship

The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, represented by Acting Consul General Mary Joy B. Ramirez (standing), held discussions with the Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) on 08 February 2026 at the Embassy’s Multi-Purpose Hall, to lay out the plans for various activities for the Filipino community in Japan and the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Philippines-Japan Relations in 2026.
TOKYO, 12 February 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan, represented by Acting Consul General Mary Joy B. Ramirez, held discussions with the Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) on 08 February 2026 at the Embassy’s Multi-Purpose Hall to lay out the plans for various activities for the Filipino community in Japan and the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Philippines-Japan Diplomatic Relations in 2026.
Among the major activities discussed was the Philippine Festival Tokyo, scheduled for 28-29 November 2026 at Yoyogi Park in Shibuya, along with PAG’s various charitable endeavors.
During the meeting, PAG also presented its pledge to extend financial assistance to Filipinos detained in Japan, as well as to those who are in shelters and victims of domestic violence.
“PAG has always been a close partner of the Philippine Embassy not only in organizing cultural programs for the Filipino and local communities, but also in providing assistance to Filipino nationals. As one of the pillars of the Filipino community in Japan, PAG has been instrumental in advancing the Embassy’s initiatives and in uplifting the spirit of Filipinos in the host country through its projects and programs,” underscored Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano following the meeting.

The Philippine Embassy meeting with the Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) on 08 February 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Hall also served as the Filipino community’s farewell to Acting Consul General Ramirez.
The event also served as the Filipino community’s farewell to Acting Consul General Ramirez, who is scheduled to return to the Philippines after a successful six-year tour of duty in Japan. During her tenure at the Embassy, she served as Philippine Festival Tokyo adviser and subsequently as PAG Adviser.
PAG, an umbrella group of Filipino community organizations based in Japan, was established in 1997 under the guidance of the Embassy. It has led the Filipino community in organizing the Philippine Festival Tokyo, the biggest annual Filipino public event in Japan showcasing Philippine culture. The group has also regularly extended assistance to Filipinos in the host country as part of its core mandate. END
