Sentro Rizal-Tokyo Receives UN 80th Anniversary Commemorative Stams and “The Greatness of Spirit” Book Series

On behalf of Sentro Rizal-Tokyo, Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano received UN80 commemorative stamps and first-day covers on 7 November 2025. She was joined by Deputy Chief of Mission Christian L. de Jesus.
On 7 November 2025, Sentro Rizal-Tokyo received new additions to its collection, namely the commemorative stamps and first-day covers marking the 80th founding anniversary of the United Nations (UN), as well as the award-winning book series “The Greatness of Spirit: Stories of Love, Courage, and Service.”
The UN commemorative stamps and first-day covers were jointly launched by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) on 25 June 2025, in celebration of the Philippines’ pioneering role as a founding member of the United Nations.
The book series “The Greatness of Spirit: Stories of Love, Courage, and Service” is a moving anthology of the lives and work of 326 individuals and 22 organizations who have received the Ramon Magsaysay Award, dubbed “Asia’s Nobel Peace Prize,” since 1958. It was honored with the Gold Stevie Award for Innovation in NGO Publications at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards held on 24 May 2024 in Manila, Philippines.
Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano received the items for Sentro Rizal-Tokyo as symbols of Filipino excellence and contributions to global peace, development, and humanitarian service.
Established under the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Sentro Rizal-Tokyo is the Philippine Embassy’s cultural center that aims to promote Filipino art, history, and heritage, and foster cultural exchange between the Philippines and Japan.

The book series “The Greatness of Spirit: Stories of Love, Courage, and Service” is a seven-volume collection showcasing the stories of Ramon Magsaysay Awardees since 1958.
