TOKYO, 3 October 2025 – Efforts to promote Bohol as a premier tourism and investment destination were at the center of discussions during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Provincial Government of Bohol on Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano on 29 September 2025. The delegation, led by Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, visited Japan for business-to-business sessions, particularly with Hard Rock Café Tokyo and Nagoya, as well as investment and tourism promotion meetings.

Governor Aumentado shared updates on the province’s initiatives to enhance its tourism offerings and expand opportunities for investors. Ambassador Garcia-Albano, in turn, encouraged the Provincial Government of Bohol to continue strengthening the investment climate and ensuring seamless travel experiences for international visitors arriving through Cebu, which serves as a key gateway to the province.

Mr. Francis Loi, Assistant Vice President of Aboitiz InfraCapital—which operates both the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and the Panglao Bohol International Airport—also joined the discussions. Governor Aumentado encouraged Aboitiz InfraCapital to integrate Bohol’s attractions in its promotion initiatives and noted that the Province is considering the development of bundled Bohol-Cebu tour packages.

In the medium- to long-term, the parties agreed that attracting direct international flights to and from Bohol will be essential to boosting tourist traffic and sustaining the province’s growth as a tourism hub.

The meeting underscored the importance of close collaboration between local government units, airport authorities, and the private sector to further position Bohol as a vibrant center for tourism and investment in the Philippines.

Located in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, Bohol has a population of over 1.3 million and a land area of 4,800 square kilometers, making it one of the country’s larger provinces. Bohol is noted for its agricultural output, particularly rice, corn, and coconut, as well as its abundant marine resources. Among its world-renowned tourist attractions are the Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, and the Philippine tarsier, which is the world’s smallest primate.
