Ambassador Garcia-Albano Conveys Philippines’ Greetings At The Inauguration of Palauan President
KOROR, 16 January 2025 – Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano represented the Philippines at the inauguration of H.E. Surangel S. Whipps Jr. as President of the Republic of Palau on 16 January 2025.
Ambassador Garcia-Albano conveyed the best wishes of Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the Filipino people to President Whipps Jr. and the people of Palau. She highlighted the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
“We warmly congratulate President Whipps and the people of Palau on this special occasion. We are confident that under the continued leadership of President Whipps, the strong ties between the Philippines and Palau will further strengthen, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as sustainable development, maritime cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges,” said Ambassador Garcia-Albano.
As former colonies of Spain, the Philippines and Palau share centuries-old ties. Formal diplomatic relations between the two nations were established on 15 July 1997.
There are approximately 3,000 Filipinos residing and working in Palau.
On 15 November 2023, Ambassador Garcia-Albano presented her credentials as Philippine Ambassador to Palau to President Whipps.
