Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano attended the first night of “Simbang Gabi”

15 December 2024 – Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano attended the first night of “Simbang Gabi” or the Filipino tradition of pre-dawn or evening novena Masses leading up to Christmas, at the St. Anselm Catholic Meguro Church in Tokyo.

His Excellency Archbishop Francisco Escalante Molina, Apostolic Nuncio to Japan, presided over the inaugural Mass, joined by Fr. Antonio Camacho, Parish Priest; Fr. Martin Dumas, Assistant Parish Priest; and Fr. Emilio Martinez, Guest Priest.

Simbang Gabi is a cherished Filipino tradition deeply rooted in faith, symbolizing the anticipation and preparation for the birth of Christ.

Ambassador Garcia-Albano expressed her gratitude to the St. Anselm Catholic Meguro Church for hosting the Simbang Gabi and emphasized the importance of cultural and spiritual traditions in strengthening bonds among Filipinos in Japan.
