Filipina Artist Wins Special Award at the 2023 Paralym Art World Cup Held in Tokyo, Japan
The Philippine Embassy congratulates Filipina artist, Erin Roleda Tejada, who won the Paralym Art Award at the recently concluded Paralym Art World Cup 2023 held in Tokyo, Japan on 23 January 2024.
Erin’s artwork, named “Journey to the Manger,” bested 488 entries from 23 countries for this special prize, which she received in person at the awarding ceremonies held in Tokyo.
The Paralym Art World Cup is a global arts event for people with disabilities. A different theme is selected each year, and artists from all over the world create and submit artworks according to this theme. The 2023 World Cup’s theme was “Journey.”
According to her father, Alvin Tejada, who accompanied Erin during the awarding ceremony, Erin was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). “This award is a triumph for Erin and is also a recognition for all persons with disabilities that she represents”, he told Embassy representatives.
The Embassy and Sentro Rizal-Tokyo are proud to showcase Erin’s award-winning artwork as the Philippines celebrates National Arts Month 2024 in February.
