Philippine Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Jose C. Laurel V, officiated the hybrid Oath-Taking Ceremony of the 2022-2023 Executive Committee Officers of the Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ) on 25 May 2022. Six (6) of the eight (8) officers were present at the Philippine Embassy. The other two (2) officers, who are based in Ibaraki and Kyoto, were sworn in via Zoom.
Incoming President and Head of External Affairs Mr. Rodel Jonathan Vitor II took the opportunity to introduce his team to Ambassador Laurel and to express AFSJ’s appreciation to Ambassador Laurel for the continued support of the Embassy to the Association for many years. Vice President for Social and Cultural Affairs Ms. Razelle Dennise Soriano also presented the organization’s upcoming projects focused on reaching out to fellow scholars and assisting newly-arrived students in Japan.
Ambassador Laurel, in his remarks, encouraged the AFSJ Officers to “spread their reach farther and wider as Japan continues to open more opportunities for people-to-people exchanges in the field of education.”
The Oath-Taking ceremony was held at the Siazon Hall of the Philippine Embassy. Adhering to the health protocols, it was a private event attended only by the new AFSJ officers.
