6th Annual Ambassador’s Golf Tournament Bring Filipino and Japanese Golfers Together for A Good Cause
01 July 2013 –The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo successfully partnered with the Pinoy Golf Association in Japan [PGAJ] on 30 June to again bring together Filipino and Japanese golf aficionados in support of a good cause, as they staged the 6th ANNUAL AMBASSADOR’S GOLF TOURNAMENT at the world-class Glissando Golf Club in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture.
Since 2008, the Ambassador’s Golf Tournament has been helping reinforce camaraderie and friendship between Filipinos and Japanese players, mirroring the close and cooperative relations that have long characterized the dynamic ties between the Philippines and Japan.
The Tournament has proven to be a helpful vehicle for generating financial and other forms of support for deserving charities in the Philippines, as well as to Japan-based institutions that provide support to the Filipino community in Japan. In 2011, the Tournament’s proceeds were donated to institutions that provided humanitarian support to Filipinos in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck in March 2011, including the Kapatiran organization, the Wesley Center, the Franciscan Chapel, and the Lighthouse Church.
Last year, the tournament raised substantial donations for the Bigay Awa At Tanglaw Sa Mga Anghel (B.A.T.A.) Foundation, which operates orphanages and provides shelters for young orphans and underprivileged children in the Philippines.
Founded on June 2008, the PGAJ is a non-stock and non-profit organization that brings together Filipino golf enthusiasts in Japan to promote the sport among the Filipino community in Japan and to build camaraderie within the Filipino golfing community, and between Filipinos and Japanese nationals and other expatriates.
In undertaking these goals, the PGAJ supports tournaments and activities organized by the Philippine Embassy and the Filipino community in Japan, to help raise funds for worthy causes.
