Philippine Ambassador Garcia-Albano Meets the Filipino Community Leaders in Hiroshima
On 4 June 2023, Philippine Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano met the Filipino community leaders in Hiroshima, Japan. The Ambassador was joined by officials from the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka, Japan, led by Consul General Voltaire D. Mauricio. Hiroshima is under the jurisdiction of this Consulate General.
Leaders and members of seven (7) Filipino Community Organizations, namely, Hiroshima Filipino Association, Hiroshima Philippines Friendship Society, Hiroshima Assistance for Filipino Communities-Fukuyama, Kure Christian Community, Philippine Foreign Students from Elisabeth University of Music, Philippine Hiroshima University Student Organization and Filipino Catholic Community of Noboricho attended the meeting to discuss various topics of interest to the community. This includes Assistance-to-Nationals concerns and establishment of the new Department of Migrant Workers and its coordination with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Tokyo and Osaka on labor issues.
Ambassador Garcia-Albano expressed her appreciation for the gathering of Filipino community leaders that served as a venue to get to know more about the concerns as well as programs and activities of Filipinos in Hiroshima.
