On behalf of the Philippine Embassy in Japan, Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano received the “Kami to Kami” collaborative artwork of Mr. Thomas Joseph C. Huang and Mrs. Manelle Asis-Huang. The artwork was first displayed in Japan during the “Kami to Kami: Listening to Nature through Our Hands” exhibition at Gallery Kujaku in Tokyo in November 2025.

“Kami to Kami” is a visual illustration of the harmony between the Philippines and Japan. The whale shark, representing the Philippines, and the red crowned crane, representing Japan, are distinct yet equally majestic symbols of the two countries. In the same way, the Philippines and Japan have, over the years, embraced their cultural differences while building a longtime bond of friendship, peace, and unity.

Ambassador Garcia-Albano expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the donation of the artwork to the Embassy. She noted that the gift comes at a meaningful time as the two countries celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of the Philippines and Japan in 2026.
