Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities
The 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of
Philippines-Japan Diplomatic Relations

Official logo of the Philippines-Japan 70th Anniversary designed by Mr. Edmon Fuerte.

The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and Japan, a milestone that highlights the transformation of ties from post-war reconciliation to one of the most dynamic and strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific.

To commemorate this significant occasion, the Philippines and Japan will conduct activities celebrating their friendship throughout the year with the theme “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities.”

Anniversary Logo

The official anniversary logo was designed by Mr. Edmon Fuerte, a Filipino graphic artist based in Baguio City, whose entry was selected as the winner of the commemorative logo design contest jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Tokyo and the Embassy of Japan in Manila. The contest drew 127 entries from Filipino and Japanese participants.

The intertwined ropes—evoking the Philippines’ abaca or Manila hemp and Japan’s sacred shimenawa—symbolize two nations bound by their shared history. They reflect not only strength and resilience, but also the weaving together of our peoples, our economic journeys, and our shared aspirations for the future.

The logo will serve as the visual mark of the anniversary celebrations and will be featured in various commemorative events in both the Philippines and Japan.
