Tourism Promotion Through Digital Technology
The Philippine Embassy in Japan and the ASEAN-Japan Centre co-organized the “Tourism Promotion through Digital Technology” study tour for ASEAN Embassies on 27 March 2019 at the Toppan Nippon Gallery TABIDO in Tokyo, Japan.
In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador Jose C. Laurel pointed out the increasing number of Japanese tourists in the ASEAN region and hoped that the study tour would provide valuable insights on the benefits of harnessing the latest technologies in enhancing people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and Japan.
The Toppan Nippon Gallery TABIDO conducted a brief seminar and tour of the following facilities: (1) an orientation lounge with high-definition LED wall projecting Japan’s beautiful scenery; (2) an immersive and realistic Virtual Reality (VR) experience of the Yomeimon Gate of the Nikko Toshogu Shrine in Tochigi Prefecture, a designated national theater of Japan; (3) a presentation room with 8K display monitors for archive presentations; (4) a 3D measurement demonstration space; (5) a tourism gallery using multi-screen touch panel signages, digital folding screens, and projection mapping; and (6) a gallery exhibiting the future of tourism through robotics and digital technology.
During the reception, the participants networked with Toppan Nippon Gallery TABIDO officials to explore possible collaboration on tourism promotion in their respective countries.
