TOKYO, 08 September 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan, led by Ambassador Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, proudly supported “Threads of Dreams,” a landmark runway showcase presented by premier Philippine lifestyle brand BENCH/. The show took center stage during the Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo Spring Summer 2027, held on 01 September 2026 at the Shibuya Hikarie Hall in Tokyo.

Ambassador Garcia-Albano expressed her immense pride in the collection’s international debut. “I am incredibly happy and proud that the ‘Threads of Dreams’ has made its way to Japan, beautifully showcasing the creativity, ingenuity, and uniqueness of Filipino design,” she stated in an interview with BENCH/ Team. “The Philippine Embassy in Japan strongly supports the expression of Filipino culture in all its forms — be it art, culinary, or fashion. Cultural initiatives such as this one are vital to strengthening the deep-rooted relationship between the Philippines and Japan,” she added.

“Threads of Dreams” was produced by BENCH/ in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines and The Japan Foundation, Manila, serving as a cultural cornerstone for the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan. Prior to its Tokyo runway debut, the project premiered at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila as a curated exhibition featuring over 60 exquisite garments created by the three designers.
