Inclusive, safe, and responsive - The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Japan

The Gender and Development (GAD) Implementation Team of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo advances gender equality and promotes a workplace and service environment that is respectful, inclusive, and free from discrimination. In line with the Philippine government commitments on gender mainstreaming, the Embassy integrates GAD principles in its programs, policies, and frontline services, ensuring that women, men, and persons of diverse gender identities and expressions are able to benefit equitably from its initiatives.

What We Do

The GAD Implementation Team works with all units of the Embassy to:

  1. Mainstream GAD in planning and budgeting by integrating gender-responsive measures in programs and activities;
  2. Promote a safe and respectful workplace through awareness-raising activities, information, training, and coordinated prevention efforts;
  3. Support vulnerable groups, including women in distress, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities, through appropriate referrals and coordination with the Assistance to Nationals Unit of the Embassy; and
  4. Build capacity and awareness by providing learning sessions and communication materials on gender equality, respectful conduct, and inclusion.
Priority areas

The GAD Implementing Team focuses on the following:

  1. Prevention of sexual harassment and gender-based violence
  2. Protection and clear referral pathways for vulnerable clients
  3. Gender-responsive communication and public information
  4. Inclusion of persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups
  5. Workplace well-being and respectful conduct
  6. Use of data, feedback and reporting mechanisms to improve service delivery
