TOKYO, 19 December 2025 – The Philippine Embassy in Japan donated commemorative stamps and first-day covers highlighting the Philippines’ contributions to the United Nations over the UN’s 80-year history to the Japan Philatelic Museum in Toshima-ku, Tokyo on 09 December 2025.
This follows the Embassy’s donation of the stamps and first day covers to the Japan Postal Museum on 28 October 2025 in celebration of World Post Day.
Represented by First Secretary and Consul Darell Artates, the Embassy delivered the stamps to the Japan Philatelic Museum’s Director, Mr. Chuichi OCHIAI. The UN80 commemorative stamps will be prominently displayed at the museum’s library for one (1) month in January 2026.
To reciprocate the donation, the Japan Philatelic Museum presented to the Embassy its publication featuring the museum’s extensive collection of 350,000 stamps dating as early as 1946, which includes antique Philippine stamps. The collection of Philippine stamps showcases local flora, delicacies, and traditions such as rice cakes (sapin-sapin) and Christmas celebrations.
The museum is planning to organize an exhibit showcasing Philippine stamps for next year.
