Junemie Hazel Leonida Lebata-Ramos, <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Bookman Old Style,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">a researcher for the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) located at Tigbanua, Iloilo, Philippines, as one of the awardees of the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Bookman Old Style,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Japan International Award 2009 for Young Agricultural Researchers, <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Bookman Old Style,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">given on 4 November 2009 by the Japanese Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Bookman Old Style,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Dr. Leonida-Ramos was conferred this Commendation Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of technologies for the mitigation of food and environmental problems through her research work entitled, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Bookman Old Style,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>\u201cStock Enhancement of commercially important and threatened marine invertebrates in tropical areas\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Bookman Old Style,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Minister Jamoralin of the Embassy, who represented Ambassador Siazon during the award ceremony, noted that \u201cthe award bestowed on Dr. Lebata-Ramos is a reaffirmation of her achievement in fisheries and marine research that serves to promote food productivity, food security and environmental and marine conservation.  Her winning this prestigious award will help inspire more researchers to follow her path.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Bookman Old Style,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Dr. Lebata-Ramos is currently the Program Leader in the Aquatic Ecology Program at SEAFDEC.
