5 August 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo welcomed 53 young Filipinos participating in this year’s Japan Exchange and Training (JET) Programme during a welcome reception hosted by the Council of Local Authorities of International Relations (CLAIR) at the Keio Plaza Hotel, Tokyo.

In its remarks, the Philippine Embassy highlighted how the JET Programme provides a platform for the Filipino participants to gain an insight into the culture of Japan as well as share the best of what the Philippines has to offer through immersing themselves in their respective places of assignment in local communities.

The JET Programme recruits foreign applicants annually to either serve as Assistant Language Teachers (ALT) to teach English in local schools all over Japan or serve as Coordinators of International Relations (CIR) to assist local governments in their international relations activities by providing essential language support and cultural advisory. The participants are contracted for one (1) year renewable up to a maximum of five (5) years.
