Philippine Embassy in Tokyo Receives Donation from New Kōmei Party for Typhoon Yolanda Victims

New Kōmei Party President Councillor Natsuo Yamaguchi and Councillor Kozo Akino turns over the party’s donation to Philippine Embassy officials.

TOKYO, 14 November 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo received a ¥1-million donation from the New Komei Party (Kōmeitō) for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) turned over by its President, the Honorable Natsuo Yamaguchi, member of the House of Councillors of the Japanese Diet. He was accompanied by the Honorable Councillor Kozo Akino, M.D., also a member of the NKP.

Councillor Yamaguchi also handed over a letter of condolence addressed to H.E. President Benigno S. Aquino III, conveying the party’s sympathies and its pledge to support the Japanese Government’s assistance efforts for the Philippines. He said the NKP remembers with gratitude the prompt relief assistance and medical teams sent by the Philippines to Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011.

The Embassy conveyed the profound appreciation of the Filipino people to Councillor Yamaguchi for the New Kōmeitō’s assistance and gesture of solidarity. The NKP is a member of the ruling coalition in the Japanese Government. END
