Marubeni Corporation Turns Over Sendong Donation to Philippine Embassy

Marubeni Corporation, represented by Mr. Wataru Yoshida, Corporate Advisor, Senior Operating Officer of the Global Strategy and Coordination Department, and Mr. Yasuhiro Morimoto, General Manager for the Global Strategy Department of the Asia & Oceania Team, visited the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo last February 3 for a ceremonial turn-over of its JPY5 million donation to the victims of Typhoon Sendong (International Name: Washi) to Philippine Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Manuel M. Lopez.

Marubeni Corporation’s donation was coursed through the Philippine Embassy account and will be turned over to proper authorities in the Philippines.

The Embassy was also informed by Marubeni that it had earlier coursed another JPY5 million donation for the Sendong victims through National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. Marubeni also extended assistance through the ABS-CBN Foundation.
Marubeni is one of Japan’s largest “sogo shosha” (general trading companies) and is involved in diverse business interests including, chemicals, energy, finance, logistics, IT, lifestyle, metals and mineral resources, real estate development, plant and industrial machinery, power projects and infrastructure and transportation machinery and has business presence in at least 70 countries.

In the Philippines, Marubeni is involved in various sectors such as power/energy, transportation, real estate, water, trading, among others.
