Incoming Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda Pays Courtesy Call On Ambassador Laurel

pr-20170911-1Philippine Ambassador to Japan H.E. Jose C. Laurel V received incoming Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Koji Haneda at the Philippine Embassy Chancery in Roppongi on September 6.

Ambassador-Designate Haneda’s appointment was formally approved and announced by the Cabinet of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe only the day prior, on September 5. He will be succeeding incumbent Ambassador Kazuhide Ishikawa, who will be concluding his term in Manila after three fruitful years.

Ambassador-Designate Haneda was formerly Japan’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran (2012-2015) and until recently, was Japan’s chief negotiator for Free Trade and Economic Partnership Agreements (2015-2016). He began his foreign service career in 1979, and significantly, served his first foreign assignment at the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines (1982-1984).

Ambassador Laurel conveyed his warmest congratulations to the incoming Japanese envoy, together with his pledge to cultivate effective cooperation with Ambassador-Designate Haneda and the Japanese Embassy in Manila in advancing Philippine-Japan relations. END
