Ambassador Jose C. Laurel V paid a courtesy call on the President of the Hokkaido Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Kyouichi Hirota, on 29 January 2019. In his meeting, he presented the business opportunities and strong potential for companies looking to leverage a growing Filipino market, and a country with continuing strong growth prospects. Praising the tourism and agriculture expertise of Hokkaido, Ambassador Laurel pitched for the members of the Chamber to look at the agri-business, food processing and tourism sectors in the Philippines.
