Philippine Embassy in Tokyo Receives Donation Pledge from Fukuoka City

On 10 January 2012, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo welcomed officials from Fukuoka City who presented the City’s pledge of ¥1 million in cash (approximately P560 Thousand) as humanitarian assistance for those affected by Typhoon Sendong (international name: Washi) in the Philippines.

Ambassador Lopez met with Mr. Tomomi Ariyoshi, Executive Director of the Tokyo Representative Office of Fukuoka City, and Mr. Koji Tomita, Coordination Division Manager of the same office. Mr. Ariyoshi presented the letter of Mr. Soichiro Takashima, Mayor of Fukuoka City, offering “heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families.”

Ambassador Lopez thanked Messrs. Ariyoshi and Tomita, and asked them to extend to Mayor Takashima and the people of Fukuoka City the Philippines’ sincere appreciation for their generous donation for the victims of Typhoon Sendong and their families.
