Cong. Pacquiao Meets Filipino Community in Tokyo, Reminds Filipinos of Value of Sharing Benefits with Country and People

07 August 2015, Congressman and World Boxing Champion Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao held a dialogue with the Filipino community in Tokyo during a forum at the Philippine Embassy where he reminded the Filipinos of the value of sharing with their country and people the benefits they gained while living and working in Japan.

Cong. Pacquiao, holder of eight world boxing titles, met the Filipino community as he took time out from the campaign in Tokyo of the Philippine Delegation to host the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez and Madame Maria Teresa Lopez welcomed Cong. Pacquiao and wife, Jinkee, to the Embassy and later introduced them to the staff and to the Filipino community at the multi-purpose hall.

In his remarks, Cong. Pacquiao recalled his humble youth and difficult experiences in Bukidnon with his mother and six siblings as well as the struggle and challenges he went through to become what he is today, as an 8 division world boxing champion and member of the House of Representatives for the Lone District of Sarangani. He also discussed with the Filipino community the attention he has given to congressional bills on sports, education and the welfare of women and children. Cong. Pacquiao, who is recognized for his humanitarian and charitable projects, concluded his remarks by reminding the Filipinos of the value of giving back to their country and people the benefits and blessings they earned while working and living in Japan.

After the dialogue, Cong. Pacquiao joined the Philippine Delegation at the presentation of the bid for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The Philippine Delegation was headed by businessman Manuel Pangilinan, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr., with Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, Congressmen Reynaldo Umali, Roberto Puno, Manny Pacquiao, and officials of the  Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, as members.
