Tokyo, 6 April 2019. The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo hosted a special commencement ceremony entitled, Paghayo sa Tagsibol 2019, to celebrate the graduation of five (5) Filipino students from different universities in Tokyo.

The Philippine-style graduation ceremony kicked off with the singing of the Philippine national anthem and culminated with the graduates shifting their Obi-Sablay from their right shoulder to their left, as a sign of their having officially obtained their undergraduate and graduate degrees from their respective universities. Graduate student Jerome Impas, who obtained his Masters in International Business Administration from University of Tsukuba, delivered an inspiring commencement message in behalf of the graduates. The ceremony ended with the graduates gleefully posing for pictures at the Embassy lobby.

The Philippine Embassy, which has enjoyed years of cooperation with the Association of Filipino Students in Japan in the holding of special graduation ceremonies for Filipino students in Tokyo, took the opportunity to congratulate the students on their academic achievement.
