Filipino Graduates in Japan Honored at Paghayo sa Tagsibol 2017

20 March 2017 – The Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ) and the Philippine Embassy Tokyo successfully held “Paghayo sa Tagsibol 2017”, a Recognition Ceremony of Filipino Students who graduated from different Japanese Universities. For this year, twelve graduates were honored, namely:

2. Ms. Lhannie D. Estrera (University of Tsukuba)
3. Mr. Chitho P. Feliciano (University of Tsukuba)
4. Mr. Ariston N. Gonzalez (Tohoku University)
5. Ms. Hannah Karen Mina Labayo (Tohoku University)
6. Mr. John Leur Labrador (Tohoku University)
7. Ms. Gabrielle Therese M. Morillo (Nihon University)
8. Ms. Zenith Gaye Almeda Orozco (The University of Tokyo)
9. Ms. Rose Jane J. Peras (The University of Tokyo)
10. Ms. Danica Elsie Reyes (Tokyo University of Agriculture)
11. Ms. Lisette R. Robles (Keio University)
12. Mr. Xerxes Seposo (University of Tsukuba)

Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Eduardo Martin R. Meñez, in his message, conveyed the Embassy’s warm congratulations and support to the graduates for their outstanding achievements and expressed hope that they would return to the Philippines and contribute to the development of the country.

Paghayo sa Tagsibol 2017” was also graced by the presence of distinguished guests specifically Deputy Director Taka Horio of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and Dr. Toyoji Kaneko of The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

The Graduates’ Response was delivered by Ms. Zenith Gaye Almeda who made the ceremony even more meaningful with her rendition of the song “Handog” to express the graduates’ heartfelt gratitude to their families, friends and to the governments of the Philippines and Japan. END
